You could also stockpile the copper and once you have a big load drive it to a scrapyard a little ways away. Not sure your situation but I will bring my lower priced items to Sarnia (20 mins. away) and copper, brass, gold circuit boards, extrusion, wire, etc to London 50 mins. away. The price is well worth the gas on the vehicle.

I wonder if I crossed over into Canada, could I scrap my brass and copper over there? You're getting a WAY better price even after the exchange rate. I get $2/lb for clean yellow. Only getting $3.30/lb for #2 copper..... Also, I recently opened over 30 sealed units and the only ones that were aluminum windings were the mini fridge motors. Had 3 and all 3 were aluminum. They were the only ones.

I'm finding more and more that "scrapping" has been a good way to exercise that muscle in the brain that really helps give me not only something to do, another stream of income, but also a means to hone a skill. The skill of "scrapping" is very much transferable to other skilsets and talents. If you are in any kind of trade that involves being a service technician or installer, scrapping is guaranteed to help in you in either of those fieds. Just like althletes vary their work out routine, anybody who works in a trades-related field can benefit greatly from practicing the skill of scrapping.

Hey Tin Man. First time watching. Great job on the video and demonstration. That ring is called a commutator and it’s what the brushes contact to make the motor run. I know you’re not fixing’em so it might not seem important, but it’s helpful to have a working knowledge of what you’re scrapping so you can plan your jobs, just as a general principle. I leave stuff like that as-is and just toss it in a bucket of teeny copper bearing items. My yard calls it breakage and they don’t give a heck of a lot for it, but 100lbs adds up quick. It’s easy to get upside down timewise taking fiddly things apart for so little return. Great channel. I know how I’ll be spending my evening!

Thank you for the comment and for watching. Yeah, I don’t spend a lot of time on these either if I begin and they are stubborn. I too throw them in a bucket and they do add up quickly as you said. Thanks again. Stay well and happy scrapping
